My mom and Dick were working in the yard. After a quick chat and a drink. I volunteered to rototiller a 50-60 foot garden, along a fence. I was then invited on a drive to investigate a small town or two. I dug up some Raspberry's, pulled up an old weed tarp from a garden and dug a few holes.Mom was planting and supervising. At least trying, I was giving her a lot of crap. Dick was working on the other side of house, trimming trees. We worked until noon.
Then we drove off for some high adventure. Dick was driving and we were careening down the rode looking for the town dump. When a red tailed hawk was spotted in a tree. Dick wanting to put me in the best spot for a picture. Whipped a u-turn on two wheels into the ditch. Foot down on the throttle we flew out of one side and into the next. That continued until we got to within 150' of our prey. I hopped out of the Camry, and stealthily walked up on the hawk. From where I was, he was concealed by the tree. When I tried to get a little closer, the hawk got pissed and almost attacked.
Well he flew around screaming at me a lot. See that his mouth is open in picture. If it wasn't for my Ninja training(I watched the Octagon at least a dozen times), I wouldn't be here today.
After the attack of the hawk, we sped off back the way we started and found the town dump. It was a lovely site. I wish I took a picture of the crap some jerk left outside the gate. Some poor town worker will have to clean up the mess. Geesh! Some people. (OK, Dick is a safe driver. I do like to take some liberties when telling a story. :D) (Also no animals were harmed in the telling of this story.)We were buzzing the country sides, until mom got hungry and said "Adler! Enough driving. Find me something to eat." lol
We drove so far, so fast. We had driven all the way to Costa Rica!
There was this quaint little village with waterfalls.
OK. OK, we were in Montello WI. lol Well it is quaint and little. I saw four waterfalls on the main street. There is another one I missed. This area was a granite quarry, there is a nice sign telling how, when President grant died. 280 samples from around the world were sent in and granite from this quarry was selected for being the strongest and finest.
That is were they got the granite for Grants tomb. The water in front of the falls, is 150' deep. The granite was tested by the UW to go to 900', but it was considered to be not efficient enough to keep mining. The owner sold off parts and gave part to the city. Those falls are man made, and running year round. They did a great job.
I saw this mural, when we turned around to go to shop. We ate at a deli with fresh home made bread. It was delicious.
We saw some horses, and a couple of colts. Later we saw this black and white native american pony.
My mom likes these horses, except she discriminates against blue eyed native scandinavian type horses. This was a nice horse. lol I will get her a pic of a black and white horse with brown/black eyes later.
Mya and I saw this crane on our way home. This was a good day. @:-D
